Michele Hlava
Senior OptometristComing from a background in paediatrics, Michèle first qualified as a State Registered Nurse and worked at TM Paediatric Hospital before transferring to the Johannesburg General Hospital Haematology/Oncology unit.
After a family friend suggested she enter the Optometry field, Michèle went on to obtain her Diploma in Optometry and Fellow in South Africa, all with three young children.
Since then, she has been instrumental in campaigning for children's vision by becoming the South African National Director of the Opening Eyes Program for Special Olympics, lecturing at various institutions and schools about the visual system, and running her own practice. She believes in continuing education and spends most of her time training and instructing young Optometrist and colleagues through her years of experience.
